Poker Sherlock Help
If you don't find the answer to your specific query on this page, please feel free to contact us.

Introduction
Poker Sherlock™ is an incredibly easy-to-use statistics tracker for online Hold'em, Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo Poker games. Simply fire it up and launch your chosen Poker room when prompted and Poker Sherlock™ will begin tracking players at tables and display up-to-the-minute statistics for each player.

Known Conflicts
In most cases Poker Sherlock™ will work happily on your system. However, if you're experiencing some sporadic crashes or strange behaviour, there are some things to look out for: Firewalls (Zone Alarm in particular), popup ad blockers, background virus software or disk utility programs could be a potential conflict. This is because Poker Sherlock™ does some pretty low-level stuff to function and, any type of low-level program can be a potential conflict.
The best way to try and discover if you have a conflict is to temporarily disable such programs and firewalls and see if the situation improves. Turn them back on one by one until you find the cause of the conflict.
Although we haven't yet encountered any reports to the contrary, if you are using Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2) you may encounter a conflict. Apparently, this Service Pack has caused problems with many other software titles - so much so that DELL are even recommending that people uninstall the SP2 from their systems. You can read more about the SP2 woes with third party software here: http://www.pcworld.com/article/0,aid,117990,00.asp

Windows 95/98/ME Compatibility
Sorry, we do not support these systems at this time.

Using Poker Sherlock with Paragon Poker Pal
If you wish to use both of these products at the same time, ensure that you are using at least v5.425 of Poker Pal (to update your copy run the installer from:
               http://www.poker-pal.com/files/PokerPalProSetup.exe
Launch Poker Sherlock™ before Poker Pal and choose the card room to play at. Once the card room is up and running, you can then launch Poker Pal.
Please note that we should have a Poker Pal Plug In version of Sherlock shortly also.

Automatic Detection
On most supported sites, Poker Sherlock™ polls for the current player list every 15 seconds or so. In some cases, Poker Sherlock™ can only get the player list at the beginning on each hand.
If, for some reason, automatic detection appears to stop working, first try closing Sherlock and the poker room down and try again. If that doesn't work, please contact us for support.

General Options
There are several options available which allow you to customize your copy of Poker Sherlock™:

  1. This is the number of hands that Sherlock needs to have on any player before any statistics are displayed.
  2. This is the maximum number of hands to retrieve for any player. Set this to a lower number to keep bandwidth to a minimum or to only analyze most recent play from players. For example, a player may improve their play as they progress or you may just want to analyze the most recent sessions.
  3. Any player whose VP$IP % is less than this figure is classed as a shark.
  4. Any player whose VP$IP % is greater than this figure is classed as a fish.
  5. You can set different limits for sharks and fish for short handed games and full games.
  6. You can choose to use a standard 4 color deck in the known hands display for easier readability.
  7. You can set the maximum number of known hands to retrieve to reduce bandwidth and increase speed. The maximum setting is 100 hands.
  8. You can choose to display the basic player statistics as mini-bar charts by default. Uncheck this box if you prefer to see the actual % figures in the main Sherlock window (dashboard).
  9. If you check this check box, Sherlock will attempt to automatically filter statistics as short-handed if Sherlock detects there are 6 or less players at a table.
  10. If you have this check box checked, Sherlock will automatically switch tabs in the main Sherlock window to reflect the top-most game window on your desktop.
  11. Check this box to activate Head Up Display (HUD) on sites that support it.
  12. Customize which stats are shown and in which order on the dashboard display and HUD display. Drag a stat from the list in the left window and drop it in either the example regular dash display or example HUD display.
  13. New in version 2.1 is the ability to save HHF style history logs during play. This feature is available only to current members and is useful for those poker sites that do not offer history logs.

Head Up Display (HUD)

New in version 2.0 of Poker Sherlock™ is the integrated Head Up Display (HUD). The HUD is supported on most sites which Sherlock works with. When the HUD is turned on under the General Options, it will display a small HUD window for each player actually on the game window itself.
There are several features to the HUD windows which you should be aware of:

1] You can grab and move individual HUD windows within the game window.
2] You can double-click on a HUD window to get up the Detailed Stats window for any player.
3] You can move your mouse cursor over any figure in the HUD window and it will change to show the title of the statistic (ie. the type)
4] You can move your mouse cursor over the small "information" icon in the bottom-left corner of an HUD window and a balloon will pop-up showing more statistics for quick and easy reference.

The Main Sherlock Window (Dashboard)

  1. The main menu bar.
  2. Table Averages. When two or more players have statistics showing, these are the average figures among the players. Ideal for spotting tables that are predominantly aggressive or passive, etc.
  3. The player's screen name.
  4. The number of hands used to produce these statistics.
  5. VP$IP: Voluntarily put money in the pot. This is how often a player will "pay" to see a flop.
  6. PFR: Pre-Flop Raises. This is how often the player raises before the flop. A player with a higher % is often more aggressive.
  7. Aggr: Aggression. This is how aggressive a player is post-flop (ranging from 0.0 to 3.0).
  8. Flops, Turns & Rivers: How often does this player see flops, turns and rivers.
  9. WFS: Win % if flop seen. This is how often the player wins a hand if he/she saw the flop.
  10. Sherlock displays a tab for each open game window. There is also a "Manual" tab on which you can manually enter a player's screen name and retrieve statistics.

A Player's Detailed Statistics Window

  1. Filter the statistics shown for limit or no/pot limit, low or high stakes, short or full games - or any combination.
  2. In the title bar, shows the number of hands comprising these statistics.
  3. Add notes about this player here.
  4. A pie chart visually showing the % of flops, turns and rivers seen by this player.
  5. A pie chart visually showing the types of actions most taken by this player.
  6. A pie chart visually showing the types of hands played by this player.
  7. The known hands chart. Better hands to the left, worse hands to the right. A player whose chart shows most activity on the left is a player who is very selective about playing good hands.
  8. Bankroll chart. Gives a rough idea of financial status. However, this chart does include anyfunds added by the player and are not necessarily related to wins or losses.
  9. The aggression chart. Give a visual representation of the aggressiveness of a player.
  10. Win information including statistics on take downs and showdowns.
  11. Click this button to view the list of known hands at showdown for this player.

A Player's Known Hands Window

  1. The Win Column: if this player won this showdown a green check mark will appear in this column.
  2. The Hole Column: The player's hole cards revealed at showdown.
  3. The Board Column: The board cards from the hand.
  4. The Known Opponent Hands Column: Shows any opponent hands that were revealed at showdown.
